Annie Adams announces her candidacy for mayor of Urbana
Urbana, IL— Annie Feldmeier Adams announced that she is running for the Democratic Party nomination for mayor of Urbana. “What makes Urbana great is her people. We are distinctly independent with a vibrant and practical spirit. We want to see our neighbors thrive.”
“Since 2015, my husband Bruce Adams and I have been privileged to call Urbana home,” she says. “In 2016, I began serving on the Urbana Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission to create safer, more equitable, and connected neighborhoods. In 2015, I co-founded Imbibe Urbana and Urbana First Fridays. During the pandemic, I started the Urbana Amble: Front Yard Garden and Art Tour. These events encourage conversation and create community pride.”
The campaign has seven priorities:
Sustainable Growth
Expanded Housing Opportunities
Safe and Connected Transportation
Community Safety
Racial Equity and Social Justice
Social Health and Well Being
Environmental Resilience
“I am running for mayor to build a resilient, thriving, and welcoming city for all,” Adams says. “I will advocate for the people of Urbana's right to safety, dignity, and prosperity and the fair and respectful treatment of our city employees. We all belong here and deserve a voice in our government.”
