Annie Adams Endorsed by Urbana’s Police Officers
Urbana, IL—Annie Adams is proud to receive the endorsement of Urbana’s police officers.
“The Urbana Police Union is proud to endorse Annie Adams for Mayor. She understands that a safe, thriving community depends on a modern, well-supported police force that works in partnership with the people we serve,” Urbana’s police union, Fraternal Order Lodge 70, wrote in their endorsement today.
“On February 25th, Urbana will choose its next mayor. We believe in a forward-thinking, data-driven approach to public safety—one built on strong community partnerships. Annie Adams shares that vision,” the statement continues.
One of the key elements of Annie’s platform has been her support of the police, who are currently understaffed. Our police only have 3-4 officers on patrol at a time.
Annie also believes in alternative policing, encouraging formal partnerships between police, community organizations, and social services. This will allow innovative responses to non-violent situations and mental health crises without or in addition to police officers.
Annie Adams has also been endorsed by Urbana Mayor Diane Marlin, former state representative Naomi Jakobsson, Chair of Urbana’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission Audrey Ishii, and community safety advocate Cynthia Hoyle.
